About Jim Burton

Jim Burton has been successfully selling Real Estate for over 35 years. He obtained his “FRI”, a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute in 1996 from The Real Estate Institute of Canada, and the “MVA” Market Value Appraiser Residential from the Canadian Real Estate Association in 1998. Founder of “Team Burton” in 1998, he is a past and current facilitator of Real Estate Education and Motivational Courses for Realtors® in the St. John’s area. Jim is the owner of RE/MAX Destiny in Cambridge and Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, and RE/MAX Infinity Realty Inc., in Newfoundland and Labrador.

He is also Team Leader of Team Burton, Team Burton has been among the Top Producing Teams within the RE/MAX organization, placing in the Top Ten in Canada and Top Twenty Worldwide. On March 04, 2021, during a REMAX LLC special awards ceremony in Denver, Jim was presented the RE/MAX 2020 “Community Care Award.” In January 2020, Jim has bestowed the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador (O.N.L.). The Order of Newfoundland and Labrador is the highest honor of the province. In November 2018, The Senate of Canada presented Jim with the 150th Anniversary Medal which celebrates the achievements of Canadians who have made significant contributions to their community and commemorates the 150th anniversary of the first sitting of the Senate of Canada on November 06, 1867.

In May 2018, the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC) bestowed Jim the Pursuit of Excellence Award for Community Services and in 2017 the Rotary Club of St. John’s Northwest bestowed Jim the True Rotarian award for the 2017 Rotary year. In November 2015, Jim has bestowed the 2015 Humanitarian Award from the Canadian Red Cross Newfoundland and Labrador. In December 2014, the St. John’s Board of Trade presented Jim the Community Builder Volunteer of the Year. Jim is an Airline Transport Pilot with over 15,000 flight hours. He can be found flying a 1951 Dehavilland Beaver Floatplane during the summer months in remote Canada.
